Laws of Nature

These beings, the Πλάσμα της σκιάς, are made of shadows and dust. They haven't any clear idea as to how that came to be, just like us people.. but there is speculation. The main idea that they have come to is that they were born of ήμισυ itself, that they are one with the world beneath their feet. This is something they hold near and dear to their souls, something pasted down from the oldest of generations still around.
This is then backed up by the way these shadow creatures can feel the heartbeat of ήμισυ beneath them, especially in the quiet moments when all is calm and still. As well as with how they can manipulate the things around them, using their shadows as an extension of themselves. To make things they can use, or even eat (if just for the feeling of eating something).
Although.. this is not the case once the light begins to beam again. The Πλάσμα της σκιάς believe this time of their year, the Tonallizyanya (the time of light), to be many things. A gift of relaxation. A warning of overworking. A lesson on survival, as well as in temperance and perseverance. As well as a show of peace for the other creatures of the land. During this time, the beginning of their year (260-265 days), they retreat into their homes within their community's protective cave routes. They wait.
Then, as the Tonallizyanya begins to reach its end, they enter aqui in tonatiuh (sunset). This is a time that can take as long as our usual sunset, to as long as five days. This is a time of uncertainty because nobody really knows when this time will be done until the world slowly begins to grow darker.
This finally leads them to most young Πλάσμα της σκιάς's favorite time of the year: the Yohuallizyanya (360-365 days). This is the time of darkness and activity. Where these shadow people leave their homes and venture out for a variety of reasons. Hunting, gathering, farming, preparing for the next Tonallizyanya. While some of them stay in the village to act as caretakers and protectors for the elders, injured, children, disabled, and so on. This time is used for preparation, outdoor activity, soaking in the darkness, sports, and activity.There are animals in this world, as in any other. 50% of these are also made of shadows, being something that the shadow people can absorb and then later use as their own particles. The other 50% are actual creatures, much like the ones on Earth. But with the twist that about... 20% of these are large and monstrous things. These are then used for food, clothing, shelter, and making physical tools.
These creatures are use to the ebb and flow of this world, living here they're whole lives. The physical animals take the time of light to their advantage, using it to grow and multiply (which then helps the Πλάσμα της σκιάς and the shadow creatures later when the light is gone for their hunting). And, much like the people of this world, the shadow animals cannot go into the light. Which helps with understanding why these animals go into hibernation during this time.

Πλάσμα της σκιάς Customs & Norms

The Πλάσμα της σκιάς, much like us, have things that they do and don't understand. Norms and understandings. Uncertainties and assumptions.First of these would be the ideas of gender, pronouns, and sexuality. They are not acquainted with these terms. The people here know not what these terms are or mean, they only base attraction and romance off of personality and compatibility. Off of how well two of them compliment each other and can work together even through disagreements and hard times.
As for the idea of appearances and gender identity, they do not understand the issue of these. They are so use to being fluid, ever changing beings, that the odd thing for them is for people to be stationary. They believe that in order to be comfortable then one must shift semi-constantly once given the ability to do so, and this is what they do. From the moment a child gets the ability to shift once they reach their 5th years, their body is constantly moving and changing. Exploding with change.Moving forward we have Religion. The Πλάσμα της σκιάς believe ήμισυ to be alive, breathing the same as them and everything else in their world. When they take a life, physical or shadow, they kiss the forehead of the creature and then, with their hand on the cheek or heart of the creature, they kiss their first two fingers and touch the ground. Then they hold that position while they thank the creature for its sacrifice and ήμισυ for its sacrifice, then going on with asking for this world to take the soul of the creature and protect it.
Things that help them to believe that the world is living are the fact that they can feel the heartbeat of ήμισυ beneath them, and some other things that were stated back in "Laws of Nature" slide.Another thing is that the elders are a strong and important pillar in their society. They are sworn to truthfulness, which means to lie is to accept death (by either your own, or another hands), and they are the ones with the stories of the past. Pasts that can stretch thousands of years back. They are who bring forth what truth they can remember and that speak about their experiences to the village in order to keep them from repeating the same horrors that they have seen in their lives. A council of sorts, except for the fact that everybody is consulted before decisions are made via voting.

Creation

Birth works differently where ίσκιος is from. In his world, "ήμισυ", where the world is split between the dark and the light. On this world, full of people made from shadow, they believe that in order to reproduce then two must be in sync and in perfect harmony. In heart and mind, body and soul. So, when the two partners are ready they claps hands and simply flow into one another. They become one, with the two merging their shadow particles and becoming one being of two separate minds and motives but with shared thoughts. Nothing to be hidden from each other. This is their final test in order to see if they are truly compatible and ready for this next step of existence.
Then after a few months of their shadow particles merging and collecting inside the two of them, a small blobby ball-ish form of shadow and dust can be gently pulled from their core and shaped into something more. The two parents then work together to shape the being into what they imagine their connection could create and then, once the forming is done, they seal the whole thing with a kiss to the forehead.
The two parents then separate and care for the child until it is able to care for itself and contribute to the community.This newly formed being then must stay in this shape until their 5th year. This is so that their body can adjust to life and so that it has the time to process how to start making its own shadow particles. Then, once this 5th year is upon the child, they can finally begin to shift and change their shape as they see fit for themself. With these particles then collecting for years and years gradually until the end of their lives so that they may keep changing their shape and growing as big or as small as they would like or many whatever they would like to use around them.However.. if the connection between the two fails, then they are forcefully split apart and some of the particles of each other are stuck in the other. To be cycled out through life. It is said, that once these particles are cycled out then you are ready to start again. But every length of this time is different, for only your body knows when you are healed from the past trauma.

The Beginning of Their Eyes

ίσκιος was created just as the world was leaving dusk and fading into darkness. It was the quickest entry into the Yohuallizyanya that the Πλάσμα της σκιάς had seen in a few years.
This was a joyous moment for the whole village now for multiple reasons: The birth of a new member and a swift beginning to the darkening of the sky. Although his parents found it ever so slightly unfortunate at the time, but that was only because this meant that they would now miss yet another Yohuallizyanya in order to care for the little one. But they enjoyed their time with her all the same.The first thing ίσκιος remembers seeing upon their eyes first opening... are the faces of both his parents. They were smiling down at her with eyes wide and full of joy. Γεια μικρή ίσκιος... (Hi small shadow) she remembers one of them signing, the presences of both of them oozing with all of the love in their hearts. Even in this moment, ίσκιος knew that their life would be a long and happy one.Time moved quickly after this. They grew, learned how to walk, how to express themself. Then, on their fifth birthday, they could finally feel their particles moving. Rather erratically at first, his shape spiking out and wobbling for a moment as their body became adjusted to this newfound ability. But after a handful of minutes, their body calmed, and the first thing they did was back a small little bunny with their particles. They had only seen the creature a couple of times in the past, but it had always looked so small and beautiful. This one was much smaller, only the size of their little palm, but it was just as precious as he had remembered thinking they were.
It was this act, the first thing they made after gaining the ability to shift, that solidified their main job in the community once they were older. The fact that their immediate instinct was to make something fragile that they would have to care for in any other sort of situation (if it weren't a shadow extension of themself) showed that they should keep an eye out for them for the position of a caregiver/protector. Which did end up being the case with him.

A New Journey Begins

The years after were slow, but peaceful. Life was good, great even. They had no wishes in their soul for anything better because everything felt perfect.
Their family and community were thriving, they loved to hear the stories of the elders, and the tall-tales of the children. They even loved tending to any wounded or disabled or mentally ill. The ebb and flow of life.But then... something happened. A portal, just barely outside the cave. It was late into the Yohuallizyanya, the Tonallizyanya was nearly upon them. Yet most of the village was out already and ίσκιος found himself and the other forms of 'watcher's not knowing what to do. Not even the elders knew what to do. They suggested that they all leave the strange structure, most agreed. ίσκιος was amongst them. But, plans change. Mistakes happen. Children trip.While the children were playing a game of tag, one tripped over their own feet and began to stumble back into the portal. Luckily, ίσκιος was close. He was able to extend his arm out far enough to grab hold of the child and get them to safety, this was something they were relieved about. However, things didn't go completely as he had planned for them to. Because in the end, he did go through the portal. Just not of his own volition.
The rest of the community had arrived. They all talked with the elders and came to a conclusion: The strongest of them would go through the portal and report back on if there was anyway to destroy it.
But, unfortunately for ίσκιος, the strongest of them would include his parents. He didn't want them to go through, but they insisted that it was for the best, and for the community. So, they were set to go through on the portal within the first few hours of the next awakening.
ίσκιος couldn't relax, couldn't rest. Watching his parents prepare to leave with one or two others wasn't something he could bare to witness. So.. once everyone laid themselves down for the slumber, he grabbed what he could (a blanket/poncho made of a creatures thick and soft hair, and some pebbles and sharp iron), then stood outside the portal for a long while. For so long, in fact, that the first person to awaken saw him. A child. This child asked him what he was doing, he told them and then told them to go inside. They made a small flower and put it in his hand. Then signed for him to get home safe and hugged him before going back into their hut.
ίσκιος took a deep breath and a step into the unknown.What he didn't expect, beyond anything else, was that the portal would disappear and explode behind him. They were shocked. How would they get back home??? They panicked for a while, but eventually relaxed. At least everyone else was okay.. and they were still intact. But now, they were stuck in a world that they didn't understand or know at all. They looked up at the sky and were glad to at least see that Yohuallizyanya was still in progress, as he did not disappear upon entry into this world. He just wanted to go home, but that wasn't in the cards now. They looked around more, there were others walking around. Some, closer to themself, did not move. This was confusing for them... but they ignored it. They pulled they're hood more over their head and continued forward. Then, eventually they ventured into a structure and have been hiding in there ever since.. trying to put a plan together.Unaware that there was another being in this building...
